For Your Consideration: The West Wing
After the close of The West Wing’s fifth season on NBC, way back in 2004, Warner Brothers took out a front page ad in Variety to encourage members of the Television Academy to nominate the series for any of several Emmy awards. The print ad included a DVD of this video, highlighting some of the more memorable scenes from that season, and is notable for its inclusion of the entire West Wing score, which I’m not sure I’ve heard anywhere else. The music is quite beautiful, the images faux-iconic, and the video’s very existence is, well, quite meta. This is a real campaign ad for a TV show about a fictional campaign, man, whoa.
